A few words about me...

I have been active in the virtual world known as Second Life (SL for short) for a long time now – since 2006, actually, but I came back to it after a hiatus that lasted a few months in 2008. Only fairly recently have I decided to properly chronicle my activity, existence, experiences, loves and thoughts within the metaverse. In SL, I explore the virtual world, people's creative expression within it, my own (limited, admittedly) creative abilities, as well as my fantasies and desires.

Just who am I then?

Mona Eberhardt is my avatar; my graphical representation of the person I am in Real Life (RL) and she is active when I log into the virtual world; I also use her on a selection of social networks. In RL, I am a fairly typical woman; i.e. one who tries to make ends meet, pays bills, works, goes out, has friends and relatives – and also immerses herself in the virtual world in order to (a) escape from RL, (b) indulge in her fantasies and whims, (c) enjoy surroundings, happenings and experiences that RL cannot offer. As for my avatar, we coexist in a meta-symbiotic relationship, with her depending on me (obviously); I express myself through her. In many ways, she is an extension of my personality; she is the daughter of my mind and imagination. Therefore, at times she may actually resemble me – in the way she acts, even in the way she looks. However, we are not exactly one and the same; Mona is a subset of my personality, and sometimes she is an extension thereof.

As is evident from the way I dress in SL, from a portion of the blog posts I make on my blog and from a portion of the content I upload here and on my Flickr photostream, I have a kinky side (like many other people) and SL gives me a chance to indulge in it. Although I've never been active in D/s circles in RL, I have been reading up on it and, whenever possible, I have incorporated it in my private life. As mentioned earlier, I'm mostly submissive, but I do have a switchy side too. Among my main fetishes you'll find latex, full body encasement, bondage, high heels (ballet heels/boots, platforms etc.). I like talking about my fetishes with like-minded people, so, if you're interested in having a talk, drop me an IM.

Also, please be aware that D/s and BDSM can be quite discrete; BDSM is a set of practices (mostly sexual), whereas D/s is a lifestyle and worldview in affairs of the heart.

My guiding principles are RACK & SSC (mostly RACK).

In SL, I frequently indulge in my latex and D/s fetishes; this is something that is elaborated upon in some articles on my blog – but there are also many other pleasures (not necessarily of an emotional, erotic or sensual nature) that I take opportunities to enjoy in SL. I really enjoy observing and exploring the dynamics of SL and the many ways people express themselves through it. I'm quite approachable in-world and enjoy meaningful, intelligent discourse.

RL

Whereas most people try to keep their RL completely separated from SL, I personally think that, if we are to be genuine, aspects of our RL personalities and selves are expressed through our avatars; our avatars may be just pixels on a screen, but the people behind those pixels are real – very real; so, what we experience and feel can be very real and very genuine. My RL is not an entirely closed book, but it is not open for all to read, either. Some parts of it may be mentioned sometimes, to the extent that (a) they serve a certain article's purpose, (b) they do not distract from it, (c) they do not take me out of my personal comfort zone. In discussions, I may share some information on my RL, but what and how much of it I will share with a specific person is my decision.
